I fly American's regional jets. I work only on these jets because I was trained only on the emergency procedures and service standards of these jets. Other Flight Attendants fly other jets. When I got hired I thought flying regional would be a precursor to "going mainline." Mainline as in mainline American Airlines--different, larger jets; longer flights; international destinations, etc. Though this is a common transition for many, I learned that this path was actually n

Just 4 miles from our downtown hotel is the taxidermied remains of Pablo Escobear or The Cocaine Bear, a black bear that has been inspiring awe and empathy since its untimely death in 1985. You see Pablo was walking about doing bear things in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest. Enter: Duffle bags filled with 75 pounds of cocaine. The duffles came from the sky, jettisoned from a Cessna plane by a drug smuggler who later lost his life in his attempt to also escape that

Repo flight Robot Summer storms have been hitting my schedule hard! When flights cancel and delay long enough to time out crews system-wide, planes that should have arrived for the next day's adventures need to be repositioned to help the next day's recovery. In this case flight attendants may have to be part of Repo flights or Ferry flights. These are flights without passengers... so no service or PA's, just a quick check of all emergency equipment and then some sit time.

After TSA confiscated all my blue spirulina chia oatmeal parfaits because I was commuting out of uniform (my bad!), I was left with a breakfast challenge. Take the elevator down (in my pajamas, like usual) to grab a bagel that really isn't a bagel with peanut butter that really isn't peanut butter and grab a saran-wrapped Bill Gates' creepy Apeel-tainted apple or a green banana and call it a day? No, no, it's the Acai bowl craze to the rescue! If it wasn't for the populari

Protein is always a hard find for me. How many times I head down to the hotel's free breakfast spread only to leave with just potatoes and fruit. Many, many times. So I decided to spend a bit more time at home ensuring my breakfasts packed a protein punch. These Almond Flour Pancakes from Conscious Plant Kitchen fit the bill perfectly. I will post the recipe here for my ease and convenience... and because every food blog is so annoyingly littered with ads and videos. ▢

Commuting is rough. Plain and simple. I want to park this declaration here--a space I can return to when I forget the immense frustration... when I foolishly attempt to make my way to DCA one flight before my report time. When listing for a commute I can see the available seat count, yes. But I cannot see or control ATC ground stops, maintenance issues, gate arrival availability, ground crew availability, gate agent availability, etc etc... when you need something to go rig

I contemplated having this graphic I made printed and added to my travel tote as it seems there is not a consistent protocol for communicating late airline check-outs to housekeeping. But also, it's been a minute since my last post! I'm still here, still up in the sky and still staring out the hotel window with locational ambitions. In fact, if I am not exploring during my overnights, the time is utilized to add to my Travel Wish List. How do you keep track of where you wan

Sometimes you put the final turn of a trip on the tradeboard, exhausted and hoping someone wants some extra flying. And sometimes no one picks up the trip and you are ever so disappointed. Other times you wind up seeing the Northern Lights on the dreaded flight and you rejoice in no one picking it up. It was meant for you. The whole cabin had a blast seeing the bright green and pink lights on our flight from ATL to DCA. What a glorious night to be in the sky!

I am really impressed by the quality of these two-sided custom luggage tags and now Home is just a quick glance away. ❤️

Thermal Tights Boarding a flight can be a frigid experience in the winter. I tried these thermal tights on my recent trip to Madison, Wisconsin and these kept me super warm and cozy. Without bulking me out too much and with an adequate and unbinding support, I greeted passengers without my teeth chattering. Going to pick up another pair for the impending winter.

Sometimes, when your body is exhausted from flying and you're all alone in place far from your regular life, you opt for a bed-in television binge. For me, it's a little lazy treat that helps with decompression. Though most television can be a bit vapid, there is one show that holds my attention for many, many hours. And thankfully it is always playing in marathons... Forensic Files . Before you snicker at the general population's insatiable appetite for true crime or analy

Butterfly at GSP airport See that up in the sky? That thing overhead piercing the clouds, that's my workplace. And though you go about your day in your likely-terrestrial job, I am taking data on regional drink preferences across the country, the rates of dissolution of CO2 at 30,000 feet and... the rich, nuanced social practices of my passengers, micro-communities happenstancely placed in the small shared space I call "work." Like teaching did in my previous career, the

Being surrounded by Biscoff biscuits on a daily basis, these cupcakes seeped into my brain. So finally back in my kitchen, I brought...

The lifestyle of a Flight Attendant is pretty unique. The majority of the month is spent traversing through the country, staying somewhere new each work day. It is exhausting but exciting… You join a team, a flight crew, for the duration of the trip. Then you say goodbye a meet a new crew. The mornings are busy and start in the evening sometimes as I am often needing to set my alarm for 2:00 or 2:30 am. So the “nights” also begin earlier too. The structure of the day I am use
