See that up in the sky? That thing overhead piercing the clouds, that's my workplace. And though you go about your day in your likely-terrestrial job, I am taking data on regional drink preferences across the country, the rates of dissolution of CO2 at 30,000 feet and... the rich, nuanced social practices of my passengers, micro-communities happenstancely placed in the small shared space I call "work."
Like teaching did in my previous career, the opportunities for sociological observation in the sky fascinate the heck out of me. What are we all but collectors of experiences in which we draw from--intellectually, emotionally, creatively, physically, etc. Gain these wisdoms not passively through a screen but through analysis, reflection, interpretation of the tangible world around you. Then smile, say goodbye, and welcome some more.
